If you have ever stumbled upon the term vacation property, then you might have also come across the term timeshare.  timeshare is basically a type of vacation property ownership.  What a timeshare does is allow a person to use and run a resort while also sharing the in the costs to actually run it.  Most timeshares are associated with condos and cooperatives at popular vacation spots.  However, it is now possible to sell timeshare property in the guise of such luxury items like yachts, private jets, cruises, to other properties like camping grounds and motor homes.

A timeshare is a business strategy that a person or company can take advantage of by buying something and then selling portions of that thing to its customers.  Of course, this will only work for things that can be shared such as land and large properties or luxury items like yachts and jets.  This is the kind of strategy that works mostly for condos and vacation spots.  To sell timeshare means that the owners of that share can do whatever they want with that share for a certain time.  This can include using the property for a certain time, renting that time out to other people, giving that timeshare as a gift for someone to use a property for a while, or even trading it with other timeshare owners.

To sell timeshare property, we first have to look at how it came to be.  The timeshare was first thought up by the Europeans (specifically the French) and the first property the concept was applied to was a ski resort.  The developer of the ski resort marketed his resort as something that was for sale to customers and not for rent like the usual fare.  This strategy started to attract more people to his resort and soon occupancy was at a maximum.  This business model is something that turned out to be profitable for the ski resort owner and therefore was adapted by more businesses around the area and soon the whole continent.  Now adopted by many businesses worldwide, to sell timeshare property also can be something quite controversial because this has brought about the rise of illegal methods of the sale of property through attracting many con-artists and fraud mongers.

Does It Still Work?

The question in many peoples’ minds right now when it comes to timeshares is if it is a strategy that still works.  The answer is both yes and no.  This is a business model that was first used on the 1960s.  Over time it has attracted many criminal elements trying to dupe people into buying things that do not exist.  So if you are no a smart customer and someone is trying to sell timeshare property to you that you do not investigate thoroughly, then it may not work for you.  But there are people who do sell timeshare property properly and it is up to customers to get smart and look into what they are selling, if it exists, and if it is indeed for sale.
